Leading Qom ICP Company Shut Down

BBC's Persian radio service just announced in its evening news programming that Tarasheh co., a leading ICP and internet service provider in Qom, has been closed. The clergies' opposition to the lack of propper filtering by this company has been cited as the reason for this closure.

A Highly religious city, Qom is the center of Shi'ite Islamic studies in Iran.

100 billion pages filtered

Peyk e Iran quotes Hamshahri newspaper as saying an approximate 100 billion web pages have been filtered in Iran during last year. The list is generated and handed out to ISPs by the infamous three-man commitee.

Resalat daily reports that two Iranian students have been detained for maintaining an 'erotic' weblog.
